Sales Manager

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading, and hauling, tunneling, and quarrying. The focus lies on bringing value to customers through high-performing products that increase productivity and safety as well as to provide services and flexible maintenance programs that extend uptime and cut costs.

The Role:

The purpose of this role is to drive profit and manage loss by securing the market for the Division Rock Tools through the product strategy offering and further maintain, protect and increase the market share for Rock Tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the formulation of the divisional strategy in line with company strategy.
  • Develop sales area (Rock Tools) strategy aligned to the divisional strategy for submission to the Business Line Manager Rock Tools
  • Identify opportunities to sell Sandvik total offerings for rock tools within the Rock Tools portfolios.
  • Manage tender to contract signature with account management.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to develop deep understanding of customers business, operations, and processes.
  • Revise and understand customer contract terms and conditions and ensure these are in place.
  • Conduct regular audits on Customer Relationship Management (CRM) pipeline.
  • Create customer value propositions to proactively create opportunities for Sandvik by customer segmentation that matches the product.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver quality and value to the customer.
  • Manage the area of responsibility pricing initiatives.
  • Produce Rock Tools rolling forecast and monthly budget.
  • Provide an Obsolete Slow-Moving Inventory (OSMI) plan for managing existing stock levels.
  • Continuously seek to improve existing customer relations.
  • Manage sound employee relations in accordance with People policies and procedures.

Your Profile:

  • Grade 12 / Equivalent qualification
  • Business Management or Financial degree
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 7), Certificate of competence (Mine Manager or Government Certificate of Competency Engineering), MBA/MBL (advantageous)
  • At least 5 years Sales and Marketing experience, of which 3 years must be at management level.
  • Willingness to travel
  • English proficiency
  • Computer literacy
  • Physically and medically fit to work in a mining environment.
  • Valid drivers’ license
