Trade Compliance Specialist

Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions has an opening for a Trade Compliance Specialist!

Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions, the leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry.

The Trade Compliance Specialist is a crucial role within the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR). The key purpose of the role is to support all Sales Area business divisions related to cross – border transactions to ensure achievement of goals and objectives through consistent oversight of all goods imported and exported on Sandvik’s behalf. This role will help ensure that global transactions are undertaken in compliance with export/import laws, regulations and controls administered by the local government agencies. The role is also responsible for ensuring that the correct Country of Origin is applied to transactions and that Free Trade Agreements are used accurately.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

· Acquire and maintain sound knowledge of business operations to identify and mitigate trade compliance risk whilst analyzing potential mitigation options.

· Create, update and maintain processes, procedures and policies related to trade compliance.

· Interact with key stakeholders to ensure full support of the operations.

· Execute Sandvik’s Global Trade compliance vision, metrics and achievements to key Stakeholders and Leadership on a regular basis.

· Be aware of changes in trade laws, determine impacts on the company and disseminate knowledge to relevant stakeholders across the organization.

· Research legal regulatory requirements and ensure legal compliance within government rules and regulations.

· When necessary, prepare paperwork required for import, processes with trade compliance attributes.

· Demonstrate control of exports to meet compliance audits and other company standards - conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with procedures.

· Responsible for Trade system activities (reports, screening, clearance instructions).

· Work cross functionally with legal, regulatory, finance, quality, IT, R&D, and operations teams to achieve Sandvik’s mission, vision and objectives.

· Act as first point of contact between Customs and Sandvik’s entities.

· Provide expertise with Trade Compliance for export and import activities and handle communication with customs brokers.

· Manage customs document retention.

· Support performing tariff classification of products for export in accordance with applicable regulations.

· Ensure that procedures related to trade regulations and reporting requirements are in place for all appropriate areas of responsibility and personnel at manufacturing sites.

· Investigate and gather information to create reports for potential or verified matters of non-compliance.

· Engage legal departments in the implementation of Trade Compliance programs and related documentation.

· Liaise with Change Champions.

· Align SAP GTS implementation with future potential changes to the overall Trade Compliance process.

· Release compliance blocks once live.

· SPL – maintain lists and the rules of the automation in GTS. Conduct periodic manual checks to ensure possible matches are not the same business partner as SPL Listing. White and Red list maintenance is a manual task.

· Embargo screening and block process

· Management of licenses, handle license requirements for your divisions

· Conduct custom post- entry, preference and procedure.

· Understanding and optimizing Free Trade Agreements.

· Maintain Free Trade Agreement lists.

· Work with suppliers to get correct country of origin.

· Ensuring Free Trade Agreements processes are always used to Sandvik’s full potential in the system

· Preferential review of calculation process and applicable rules, BOM analysis

EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 years trade compliance experience with international trade responsibilities is preferred
• Capability to handle SPL screening blocks and searches, export control blocks and manage licenses
• Experience with international trade flows and customs and import/export operations and export control.
• Knowledge of and/or certification in the following areas: ECCN classification, Customs valuation principles, rules of origin, free trade agreements, INCOTERMS.
• SAP GTS knowledge is highly desired.
• Knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain

EDUCATION
• University degree in relevant field and couple of years of relevant working experience with a customs broker / freight forwarder or in a similar industry position dealing with trade and customers matters, HS & ECCN classification and country of origin (COO), with strong knowledge in import & export regulations and free trade agreements (FTA).

LICENCES & CERTIFICATES
• Dealing with trade and customers matters, HS & ECCN classification and country of origin (COO), with strong knowledge in import & export regulations and free trade agreements (FTA).

OTHER
