We are looking for a proactive Buyer (Purchasing Specialist) for our newly established heavy machinery assembly factory in Seremban - Sendayan Techvalley for the underground load & haul equipment.
About the Division
The Load & Haul Division, the home of Sandvik loaders and trucks for underground mining business. Here we are safer, stronger, and smarter, as we like to say it. We have been the market leader by accelerating diesel and battery-electric equipment development, with sharpened priorities. We work in close co-operation with the sales areas within the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions Business Area, to provide the best possible service to our customers. Load & Haul home base is located in Turku, Finland. Additionally, we have operations in Camarillo, USA and Changzhou, China as well in Seremban, Malaysia.
Do we share the same goals?
In this position you are primarily responsible to ensure purchasing activity for operational buying and close co-operation with selected / approved suppliers for Seremban factory as well to communicate with cross-functional team members, Supervisors and Managers, while maintaining on-time deliveries and compliant to EHS policies.
- Day to day operational buying process and monitor supplier performance (purchase order release, confirmation, fulfilment, and administration)
- ERP parameter maintenance within given framework
- Resolve inbound discrepancies (shipments, wrong/damaged parts, paperwork)
- Support and work closely with supply chain improvement projects
- Manage and improve relationship with suppliers
- Proactively engage with suppliers to plan and implement initiatives that deliver improved availability and minimize inventory risk (forecasting, buffer stock agreements)
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate records
- Monitor and enforce company's purchasing policies & procedures
- Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality
- Generate suppliers forecasts and coordinates general purchasing activities for Sandvik contract manufacturing suppliers
- Coordinates purchasing activities with Manufacturing, Planning and Engineering department to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner
- Performance report on purchases made and performing cost analyses
- Ensure PO accuracy, follow up issues related to purchase order (PO)
- Expedite order status for generated PO’s
- Release PO’s according to MRP
- Participate implementation and understand SAP Module S4/Hana and ARIBA system
- Support the user defined purchase request when needed
- Adhere to occupational safety and general cleanliness.
- Ensure Sandvik Way of Working procedures are in place and always adhered to
Your background and what we find important
This role would be ideal for someone looking for a new challenge and further become an expert in the purchasing, sourcing, supplier engagement environment, inventory control and planning tasks preferably in manufacturing environment. As a person you have excellent communication and customer service skills, able to follow instructions and deliver as required, able to work in a team as well independently with minimum supervision, fluently speaking English with a minimum of 5 years of experience in related industry or equivalent, extensive experience with SAP S/4 Hana & Ariba system utilization related to procurement function, expert of regional supply base, suitable degree or education certificate from technical & vocational institutions.
