In our Additive Manufacturing business, we offer the widest alloy range of metal powders on the market, under the world renowned Osprey® brand as well as a Controlled Expansion (CE) Alloys product range.

We’re now looking for an Operations Engineer to join the Engineering function.

The main responsibilities of the Operations Engineer are to continuously improve all aspects of plant equipment and systems associated with the engineering department. To collaborate with managers, engineers and production in providing safe, reliable, compliant and efficient operations to the site.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Operations Engineer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and proven experience in improving and optimising production equipment and processes. Candidates could have either a Mechanical or Electrical skill set. A trade apprenticeship HNC level or equivalent as a minimum, have CompEx certification or at least significant experience in CompEx. An understanding of process safety and a continuous improvement mindset is essential. Experience of working in the metals industry and IOSH certification would be advantageous.

This role is based at our manufacturing site in Neath.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the project, maintenance and workshop engineering functions.

  • Working with the team to develop RCM, condition monitoring, predictive monitoring systems and fingerprinting techniques.

  • Breakdown monitoring and breakdown failure analysis.

  • Equipment purchasing

  • Support control and power distribution projects.

  • Support production with 5 year capital plans. Contribute to the creation to technical files for each project.

  • Resolve production difficulties by developing and implementing solutions.

  • Work within the management of change system for continuous improvement project activities.

  • Maintain compliance relating to legislation affecting site-based equipment and activities.

  • Conduct appropriate risk assessments and identify safety improvements.

  • Conduct or participate in safety assessments (PUWER, ATEX, LOLER etc.).

  • Engage with and monitor contractors when required. Review contractor performance and respond appropriately.
