Electrical Automation Engineer

The Electrical Automation Engineer will provide technical lead of the electrical supplier network including input into electrical and automation feature development. The successful candidate will provide day to day electrical support within a production environment. The position will contribute to the organization with experience and knowledge on an operational level by using suitable methods, tools and processes and will contribute to the overall department/function results by own work and by sharing best practices.
You will be the handling the technical supplier relations for electrical systems and will be providing electrical support to production. You will provide an input into the future electrical and automation strategy and roadmap, this will include reviewing and developing automation systems and hardware selection, including control panels and harnessing. You will help to develop Sandvik internal processes to exceed relevant standards, codes and best practice. You will have the ability to make informed decisions within defined time frame.

For the initial 6 months of employment, you will be fully based on site in Ballygawley with occasional travel required to local test sites. Therefore, applicants must possess a full driver’s licence, have access to their own car and carry business insurance.

Upon completion of your probationary period, you may have the opportunity to work remotely 1 day per week.

This role will involve travel to Sandvik sites worldwide, with occasional attendance at exhibitions, trade shows and test sites when necessary.

Essential Criteria

  • University degree in electrical or automation or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • Proven ability in design of control systems, including 400Vac and 24Vdc systems.
  • Proven theoretical foundation within electrical and automation.
  • Ability to diagnose, debug, test and amend control systems.
  • A full driving licence with access to own car. Business insurance will also be required.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with mobile machinery drive train systems & engine/generator integration
  • Experience with mobile machinery communication protocols, e.g., CAN/Modbus/Profibus
  • Ability to understand/debug machine control software e.g., Codesys
  • Experience within crushing & screening industry
  • Proven practical foundation within electrical and automation.
  • Industrial/mobile electrical and or automation experience
  • Wiring schematic/design experience EPLAN/E3
  • Experience in supplier collaboration/co-ordination

Location Requirements

This role is based in Ballygawley, Northern Ireland. Candidates must reside in Northern Ireland or be in the process of relocating. All relevant work visas and Right to Work documentation must be in place prior to application. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
