The role

We are seeking an experienced workshop or maintenance planner who will take responsibility for optimising the planning and resource allocation to enhance productivity and transparency within the Parts and Services Operations. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient coordination of resources, equipment, and materials, manages preventative maintenance, and communicates effectively with stakeholders.

Working alongside the leadership team, this role will take on guiding and influencing position to develop the team further in the best practice in planning.

Additionally, the Workshop Planner will identify and addresses labour or parts shortages, reviews past job data to improve processes, and supports the Workshop team.
While we are ideally looking for candidates in the Mount Isa region, possible relocation packages could be discussed for the right candidate living in Brisbane - Townsville.

Areas of responsibility

  • Champion Global Standards: Support and implement Sandvik's global workshop standards, aligning work structures with job management and reporting for optimal performance.
  • Streamline Processes: Compile comprehensive task and bill of material documentation to ensure efficient and repeatable project execution.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-project reviews to capture valuable insights, update documentation, and focus on cost reduction and efficiency enhancements.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze data, draw meaningful conclusions, and provide actionable recommendations to improve planning and scheduling activities.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Establish and maintain effective communication with site personnel and external stakeholders, fostering strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Plan and coordinate work with internal stakeholders, ensuring resource availability and alignment with delivery schedules and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Risk Management: Review planning and scheduling documentation to identify potential risks and key issues, providing proactive solutions for the Service team.
  • Optimize Inventory: Assist with inventory planning and implement corrective actions for defective or non-conforming parts, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Enhance Reporting Accuracy: Update job information to optimize technical execution and maintain accurate and up-to-date reporting.
  • Maximize Team Productivity: Collaborate with the Workshop Manager and Supervisors to allocate labour efficiently and boost team productivity.
  • Mentor and Guide: Provide guidance to the team on improving future planning opportunities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Your profile

You are an experienced local Mount Isa Planner/Scheduler, or someone willing to relocate to Mount Isa, with a minimum of 2 years in workshop or heavy industry, preferably with a focus on mobile equipment. You will have a strong background in resource allocation, inventory management, and experience with mobile and fixed plant mining equipment.

A relevant trade or tertiary qualification in maintenance is required accompanied by strong problem-solving, strategic planning skills, and the ability to collaborate inclusively and work autonomously!

You should be proactive, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with excellent communication skills for fostering interpersonal relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel is essential, along with exposure to contract and contractor management.
