Helen Blomqvist, President Sandvik Coromant
Digitalization and Industry 4.0 are focus areas for Sandvik and as President for Sandvik Coromant, Helen Blomqvist works at the center of the transformation. She explains how an automated and connected digital offering across the manufacturing value chain will improve customer productivity and sustainability.
With a PhD in Structural Chemistry and 18 years within Sandvik, of which 12 in R&D, Helen Blomqvist has extensive experience and a solid knowledge of the manufacturing industry. An industry that is undergoing a digital transformation towards what is often referred to as Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution.
“Industry 4.0 and digitalization of the manufacturing industry is mainly about data and automation,” Blomqvist says. “It’s about making sure you have an efficient flow in your manufacturing value stream and that you take care of all the data that is generated in each step to create a digital thread throughout the manufacturing chain.”
The starting point is the customer need and through innovative and creative solutions finding ways to improve their productivity and sustainability.
“Sustainability and digitalization go hand in hand. If you want to increase circularity and reduce the CO2 footprint, digitalization and to be more efficient is key.
