Community engagement for mutal benefit

Sandvik aims to be an engaged corporate citizen that contributes to the communities where it operates. Many community projects are located in the company’s birthplace: Sandviken in Sweden.
Community engagement allows companies to make a positive impact on society while also gaining benefits, such as motivated employees, loyal customers, and a reputation as a trusted and reliable partner.
Sandvik is involved in over 150 community projects worldwide, ranging from offering childcare for employees in India to supporting education for young girls in Tanzania and improving hygiene in Papua (Indonesia).
Local commitment in Sandviken
Founded in 1862 in Sandviken, about 200 kilometers north of Stockholm, Sandvik played a key role in the development of the city, which was built around the company and even named after it. In addition to its strong heritage, Sandvik maintains a significant local presence with more than 2,000 employees on site, leading to numerous community projects in the region.
“We are deeply committed to being an active community member. Our initiatives reflect our belief that community engagement benefit society and also strengthen our organization by fostering motivated employees and loyal partners,” says Emelie Jonsson, employer branding specialist at Sandvik.
On this webpage, you can watch videos about three of these initiatives: Night football, wrestling, and ice skating. Enjoy!
