Sandvik appoints new Head of Human Resources

Sandvik has appointed Björn Axelsson as Executive Vice President and Head of Human Resources, effective February 1, 2025. Björn Axelsson will also be a member of the Sandvik Group Executive Management. He is currently Vice President Human Resources and EHS at Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR).

“Björn has excellent leadership skills, a strong business mindset with solid background in building high performing teams, as well as a proven record of elevating employee engagement, safety and leadership capabilities. Björn has about 20 years of experience in the field of people and culture, driving HR strategies and leading transformations across diverse industries. He joined Sandvik in 2019 to lead the global Human Resources and Environment, Health, and Safety function for SMR, including responsibilities for people strategy, employee experience, compensation and benefit, and people analytics.

As previously announced, Johan Kerstell, currently EVP and Head of Human Resources for Sandvik Group, has decided to leave his position, after eight years in the role.
