Sandvik showcased the new generation of mining equipment at MINExpo 2016
Sandvik participated in the MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® 2016 held in Las Vegas, US this week. It is the worlds’s largest trade show for the mining industry. At the show, Sandvik introduced innovative new products and services. Here are some of the highlights:
Digitalized underground drilling
Sandvik had set up a fully functional automation control center at the show. Based on the technology for AutoMine™ it demonstrated the reliable and easy-to-use automation equipment. Visitors were offered to operate equipment in the company’s test mine in Finland – live from Las Vegas.
First battery-driven underground jumbo
Sandvik launched the battery-driven underground jumbo Sandvik DD422iE, which help mines address present and future emissions challenges. Sandvik DD422iE is the mining industry’s first battery-trammed development jumbo. By using electric energy from an onboard battery during tramming, Sandvik DD422iE produces zero emissions while maneuvering between headings. This improves health and safety for miners working underground.
Emission-free underground loading and hauling
Sandvik introduced the battery-powered loader Sandvik LH307B, with new technology for emission-free underground loading and hauling. By utilizing electrical power it provides the independence of movement, similar to diesel loaders, yet without the related diesel emissions and costs. Using the charging station’s “quick charge,” Sandvik LH307B can be ready for use in approximately 15 minutes.
The next generation of ITH underground production drill rigs
Sandvik DU412i, which is the first in its next generation of ITH (in-the-hole) underground production drill rigs, was also launched at the show. The automation-ready drill rig is built on a modular standardized platform, delivering a truly flexible automated long hole production and service hole drill. Sandvik DU412i incorporates a completely new design. It is built on the Sandvik 400 range that is ideal for highly accurate production drilling, as well as drilling service holes and slot raises.
