Olof Faxander discusses investors’ responsibility for sustainable business at conference for financial sector
What role can owners and investors play in solving the perhaps biggest issue of our time: the climate change? This and other questions were discussed at a conference for the financial sector on 13 May 2015 in Stockholm.
Olof Faxander, Sandvik's President and CEO, attended the conference as one of the keynote speakers in order to give Sandvik's perspective on sustainable business. He presented how Sandvik works with sustainable business as an integrated part of our value chain.
"Our products enhance customers' productivity and profitability, but also their sustainability, due to enhanced energy efficiency and safety", he explained. "Sustainability is both a prerequisite for business and a key factor for growth", he concluded.
As the only representative from the industry, he also took the opportunity to mention that profitability and sustainability often are still handled as separate issues from investors. He explained that few questions are asked about our sustainability commitments, at the same time as sustainability issues have become a more and more important factor defining the long-term and short-term success of our brand.
After Olof Faxander's presentation a vital discussion took place with other participants, such as representatives from Swedish politics, non-governmental organizations and scientists.
