The role:
Warehouse Specialist supervisor (Porgera, PNG)
Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is currently seeking applications for a motivated ‘Warehouse Specialist’ who is responsible to Manage warehouse daily operations for supplying spare parts and materials of mining equipment from the warehouse to customers, with a focus on team management, planning, cost control. This role is located at Porgera mine site in PNG reporting directly to our Contract manager in PNG.
This role is responsible for
- Manage day-to-day operational activities: Oversee the supply of spare parts and materials from the warehouse to the customer, ensuring efficient and timely delivery.
- Focus on people management: Lead and manage the team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Forward planning and cost management: Develop and implement strategies for effective planning and cost control to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards: Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards and compliance with chain of responsibility regulations.
Key responsibilities are
• High level of communication skills to internal and external customers.
• Ensure accurate, organized and appropriate record keeping for incoming stock receiving and importantly outgoing stock signed POD hard and soft copies. Maintains all necessary documentation including work schedule, timesheets, employer’s calendar of appointments if necessary
• To co-ordinate stock movements and liaise between all Sandvik Mining & Construction and supplier warehouses. Ensure all over / under supply from suppliers are maintained and communicated.
• Issuing stock to customer sales orders and maintaining stock to the optimum level.
• Carry out regular audits to ascertain stock levels. Maintain Stock Management processes and systems including Cycle Counting and Stock takes, rotation of stock on First in First out basis.
• Ensure warehouse machinery, equipment and tools are maintained, defects are reported, and steps taken to correct or replace.
• Producing monthly data as requested.
• Lead general warehouse maintenance. Including annual stock takes and cyclic counts
• Purchasing, receiving and dispatching parts, orders and enquiries.
• Work closely with Leading Hands to plan day to day running of the warehouse.
• Assist in ongoing in-house training for team members
This role is 3 weeks (with 12 hours per day) in PNG and 2 weeks off as FIFO arrangement. The point of hire to be ‘Manilla’ in Philippines. All accommodation and meals are provided onsite.
To succeed in this role, you are expected to:
- Warehouse / stores experience is mandatory in mechanical and/or heavy spare parts.
- Forklift and First Aid Tickets required.
- Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point etc
Your profile
- Warehouse experiences in mechanical or heavy spare parts industry at least 3-5 years
- Sound knowledge of Aurora or similar ERP system
- Strong safety awareness and mindset in work environment
- Sound computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel skills)
- Excellent people management skill, drive, flexibility, high energy and enthusiasm, self’ starter
- Excellent Communications skill
- Proven experience as Warehouse supervisor or manager role at least 2 - 3 years
- Any education such as technical college or further educational background
- Must have a ‘Positive Can do’ attitude
