Engineer/Asst Manager-Sourcing- Casting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage sourcing -new suppliers onboarding to support defined sourcing project objectives e.g. New Product development within defined cost/delivery parameters.
- Responsible implementing local category strategies across RSO (cost saving, risk mitigation etc.)
- Responsible for part development at identified suppliers as per the development plan
- Support SQ team for execution of the Advance Quality Planning and its completion in due time and follow up the performance of the supplier
- Responsible for continuous improvements on supplier quality control and manufacturing capabilities on proto development and for regular production
- Responsible for achieving performance targets set by RSO Category Sourcing Manager by leveraging total cost of ownership levers,enhancing the overall effectiveness of the organization, and cooperating with all key stakeholders within category team, RSO and Pas
Additional Responsibilities:
- Responsible for adherence to internal and external policies, regulations and laws
- Responsible for suppliers’ compliance with Sandvik policies and guidelines including EHS, Supplier Code of Conduct etc.
- Support Development and implement of local category strategies, including priorities, targets and action plans
- Build up and maintain strategic and long-term cooperation relationships with key suppliers
- Assess suppliers according to Supplier Quality core processes
- Manage the process qualification (process audit) with SQE–when in development phase
-Lead the development and production process for measurement, checking and testing
-Train the suppliers and make sure that the defined standards are properly applied
-Work closely with R&D, PDC, Supplier Quality, operation quality, buying and Engineering on New Part Development, Project Transfers and Localization projects
-Play an active role in all projects to achieve design to cost targets
-Manage action plans with suppliers in case of deviations-in development phase
-Lead annual productivity improvements with suppliers pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g. improving supplier operations, VA/VE activities etc.).
- Lead for supplier annual contract review and negotiation to minimize total cost of ownership and to meet set targets and KPIs (cost, quality and delivery)
- Ensure conformity, perceived quality and traceability of any project all along the product development phase
- Secure supplier quality performance analysis, report and provide feedback on findings, and be actively involved in supplier performance evaluation
- Manage progress plan with low-performance suppliers in collaboration with SQE
- Initiate and validate corrective and preventive actions with the suppliers for immediate containment actions
- Conduct supplier assessments in accordance with the project/sourcing team strategy
- Manage compliance with, and use of global and local contracts within region with regards to Supplier Quality
- Give recommendations and/or technical decisions to ensure a defect-free process through project management
- Monitor and review the Production Part Approval file before the transfer to site and hand over to SQE
- Continuously update and manage sourcing information in SPD (Savings Project Database), ERP, and other company system according to policies and procedures
- Work according to processes, leveraging systems and tools
- Ensure good coordination and communication with common suppliers across PAs, and RSO, PDC and other function teams within AC
Skills and experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A minimum of 8 to 12 years of experience with sourcing steel castings (Foundry Processes & CNC machining knowledge for heavy/medium steel castings /Manganese steel castings with reference to the technical/cost impact is essential), active participation in casting /machining supplier negotiation is must.
- Excellent organization skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English and presentation skills required

- Strong in negotiation
- Interpersonal skills — confident interaction with individuals at all levels of authority
- Contract establishment, Management and Administration experience is preferred
- Flexible to changing priorities and assignments
