Head of Category Management - Direct and Production Critical Material

Your mission

In this position, you’re strategically responsible for the procurement of direct and production critical materials, reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer at Sandvik Coromant. You lead a team of Global Category Managers and strategic purchasers, ensuring effective management and optimization of our procurement processes. Your exceptional stakeholder management skills are crucial as you work closely with production, production technology, R&D and offer management teams. Leading procurement activities at a senior level, you utilize market information, assess geopolitical risks, and incorporate sustainability strategies and legal requirements. Your responsibilities include developing and implementing category management strategies, strategic planning, cost-saving initiatives and compliance measures, ensuring clarity in both objectives and activities. Additionally, you leverage your product knowledge and negotiation experiences to manage strategic suppliers effectively and challenge our organization based on established KPIs to drive continuous improvement.

The location for this position is flexible with a preference in Europe, ideally near one of our production sites.

Your profile

We’re looking for an experienced professional with extensive knowledge in senior-level procurement. You demonstrate exceptional leaderships skills and expertise in category management, ensuring compliance and effective negotiation strategies. Your knowledge is backed by a relevant degree, bringing a solid foundation in both procurement and leadership. Acting in a global environment calls for proficiency in English, verbally and in writing.

You have a strong ability to lead, inspire, and coordinate suppliers, tools and agreements in a global organization. Having great planning skills, combined with true business acumen, you hold an outstanding capability to reach results, and you understand the importance of taking ownership of your category. You’re innovative and embrace working in a constantly changing environment, and your genuine interest in stakeholder management makes you succeed in this position and play an important role in our company.
