The Role :
Technical Specialist
Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is currently seeking applications for a motivate Technical Specialist based at our Lae Branch in PNG and reporting directly to Operations Manager PNG . You’ll represent 'Sandvik' on our customer site, supporting our customer day-to-day and improving the performance and integrity of Sandvik equipment. You’ll communicate across all levels of our customer’s organisation, working closely with the maintenance, supervision, planning and technical teams.
This role is 8 weeks in PNG and 2 weeks off as FIFO arrangement. Accommodation and meals are provided as benefit.
As a Technical Specialist, you are expected to:
- Provide quality technical support for the Sandvik underground and surface mining products.
- To resolve technical and operational issues on Sandvik equipment, liaise with regional Sandvik technical support to develop and implement product improvements.
- Transfer technical knowledge to familiarise/develop/upskill Sandvik and Customers personnel through hands on and/or classroom training.
- To proactively assist the customers maintenance departments to maintain a high level of availability and reliability for their fleets
- Adhering to all policies & procedures, especially EHS policies
Your profile
- Qualifications in a mechanical trade MUST.
- Minimum post-trade experience of minimum 5 years.
- Experience dealing with Heavy machinery such as UG Development Drills, UG Production Drills, UG Loaders & UG Trucks in Mining industry.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft word, excel and report writing
- To be able to read both hydraulic and electric schematic diagrams
- Highly proficient in the diagnosis and adjustment of Electrical Systems, Software installation, Can Bus Controls systems
- Ability to perform under pressure, respond quickly to requests and achieve results within given times
- Strong customer service focus and motivation and determination to achieve targets and goals.
- You will be proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
- Previous experience working on Sandvik equipment would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience working in remote isolated condition
- Strong and proven safety culture
- Must have a ‘Positive Can do’ attitude
