The role:

Contract Manager (Porgera, PNG)

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is currently seeking applications for a motivated Contract Manager who is responsible to support the implementation, execution and ongoing management of the Services contract supporting Sandvik’s equipment fleet at Porgera mine site in PNG reporting directly to the PNG Operations Manager.

Understanding Sandvik’s contract obligations, the Contract Manager is accountable to manage the day-to-day operational activities, Sandvik site-based personnel management and management of customer and internal Sandvik relationships. Additionally, the Contract Manager will oversee the operation of the onsite VMI warehouse to support the customer’s Sandvik fleet.

To succeed in this role, the Contract Manager role will:

  • Ensure all contract deliverables are met by monitoring and verify that all contractual obligations are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Engage with site-based personnel by collaborating with on-site teams to manage contracts according to agreements and deliverables, and oversee operations post machine deliveries, supporting the service scope.
  • Be a customer point of contact for contract escalation issues by acting as the primary contact for all contract-related escalation issues, ensuring prompt follow-up, tracking, and reporting of outcomes.
  • Ensure all contract milestones are met by maintaining compliance with commitments and obligations, including updating contract management databases to reflect progress and completion of milestones.
  • Manage EH&S compliance of Sandvik site-based service personnel on Customer sites
  • Ensure all contract deliverables are met including issue resolution that may present from time to time.
  • Lead the ramp-up of site operations and continued delivery of contract services
  • Provide management of onsite employees including coordination of site personnel rosters and leave schedules to ensure sufficient employees are available to meet the contract deliverables.
  • Ensure Technical Specialists are engaging with the Customer at the appropriate levels as set out in the Contract
  • Deliver high level of weekly / monthly / ad hoc reporting and communication to internal and external customers
  • Overseeing the effective operation of the onsite VMI warehouse, including annual compliance tasks and warehouse maintenance. Ensuring optimal supply to customer.
  • Ensure onsite labour and resources are utilized to maximum efficiency to provide a high level of service to maximize equipment uptime

This role is 3 weeks (with 12 hours per day and 7 days per week) in PNG and 2 weeks off as FIFO arrangement. All accommodation and meals are provided as benefit.

Your profile

  • Proven Contract or Project Management Experience at least 2-3 years
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership position in mining industry
  • Trade or Tertiary Qualifications in Heavy Equipment is an advantage
  • Solid understanding of general maintenance and repair practices for mining equipment
  • Valid drivers licence
  • Have a good understanding of Mining and Equipment operations
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft word, excel and have strong report writing skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure, respond quickly to requests and achieve results within given times
  • Strong customer service focus and motivation and determination to achieve targets and goals.
  • You will be proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
  • Experienced working in remote isolated environments.
  • Strong and proven safety culture development
  • Must have a ‘Positive Can do’ attitude
