The Procurement Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the strategic procurement processes to ensure the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role involves coordinating with various departments to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and develop procurement strategies that align with organizational goals. The Procurement Supervisor ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations and maintains strong supplier relationships. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise & review the efficiency of Buyers.
  • Establish & maintain processes related to operational purchasing.
  • Develop reports and system enhancements to improve efficiencies within Purchasing.
  • Develop & implement training for Buyers.
  • Conduct recruitment, selection, development, and promotion of employees for these work areas.
  • Coordinate with Planning to ensure material availability.
  • Analyze parts usage and establish ABC coding (updated quarterly minimum) to drive inventory cycle counting and to support Purchasing to maximize part availability while minimizing inventory value on hand.
  • Regularly (minimum quarterly) evaluate safety stocks and adjust levels based on foreseeable demand.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to resolve quality, receiving, invoicing, and other discrepancies.
  • Review slow-moving & obsolete inventory & facilitate cross-functional meetings for solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years in a manufacturing environment in planning, purchasing, production, and/or engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience coaching, developing, leading, or managing employees

Required Skills / Competencies:

  • Self-starter who can work independently or on teams.
  • Open-minded, innovative spirit with a safety and quality focus
  • Adept problem solver – logical and methodical approach for continuous improvement
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal.
  • High level of professionalism, honesty and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Computer Skills:

  • MS Office knowledge – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • ERP knowledge – LEAN,

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or another related field is required.

Licenses & Certificates (Preferred, Not Required)

  • CSCP - APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional
  • CPIM - APICS Certified Production & Inventory Management
  • CPSM - ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management
