Technical Solutions Provider

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. The Role

Provide technical support to Customer Sales and Service Representatives (CSSRs) and customers on inventory and stocking decisions to improve and maintain high quality of inventory and meet all customer demands proactively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update the stock availability system with changing stock needs based on anticipation of future stock ordering trends.
  • Implement a more proactive system of monitoring and anticipating machinery parts demand to accommodate changes in the industry.
  • Act as a central coordination point and take initiative to forecast part stock requirements.
  • Initiate new Reorder Points (ROPs) to ensure optimal inventory levels at all times.
  • Draft critical parts list for specific customers as directed by salesperson (based on machinery in use by the customer). This enables customers to make provision for machinery parts required.
  • Report on strategic stock availability
  • Provide data from unit down database to sales areas and product lines/category managers about product and part failures by customer or area (failure follow up).
  • Record stock levels continuously to avoid unnecessary redundant stock.
  • Maintain the machine population list regularly to ensure accurate billing at all times.
  • communicate updates and/or machinery (bulletins), to customers as required.
  • Proactively address part supersessions by flagging all parts that have been highlighted systematically.

Your Profile:

  • Matric/equivalent qualification
  • Relevant trade qualification accompanied by apprenticeship contract or proof of apprenticeship modules
  • Post trade qualification would be advantageous
  • Experience as an Artisan with customer interaction in the field on a variety of Sandvik machines
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. safety legislation
  • Sales experience within the mining environment would be advantageous
  • Ability to communicate technical information in simpler terms e.g. safety implications
  • Experience with customer service and knowledge of customer processes and inventory planning
  • Knowledge of mining logistics, and product sourcing
  • Computer literacy - Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • English proficiency
  • Valid driver's license
