We are looking for Leader to join our Chiplun plant location to strengthen our team.

Scope:

Provides strategic and operational leadership, direction and management of the overall operations of the Production Unit (PU) and is responsible for the smooth and successful operation of the facility. Establish and develop an organisation and facility capable of delivering with clear lines of responsibility, authority and accountability. Ensure current and long-term strategies and plans are met (e.g. productivity, quality, cost control) including involvement in new product development and factory compliance. Establish and maintain a strong health and safety culture and a safe workplace.

Key Performance areas:

  • Responsible for overall operations and company premises in the role of Manager under Factories Act (MUFA).
  • Annual target setting based on the priorities and focus of the Wolfram Business Unit (BU). Monthly review & follow-up of objectives. Ensure the implementation of the objectives and processes of the area of responsibility in coordination with other teams and departments.
  • Manage the manufacturing process on site with responsibility for production output, product quality, productivity and operational excellence.
  • Engage in collaborative short- and long-term organizational planning, strategy and business development with the PU management team in line with the BU Wolfram strategy.
  • Leadership role in human resources management. Overall responsibility for the effective utilization of the PU's human resources.
  • Develop and promote the individual and the team. Conducting structured discussions and reviews to prepare for future roles.
  • As a manufacturing unit, one of the key components to running the site is operating within a budget. Full budget and cost responsibility of the operations (Cost of Goods produced and product costs). Manage cost variances and analyze financial performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for both internal and external communication.
    • External communication includes interactions with local community Municipality/Gram Panchayat, Govt. Offices like Factory Inspector, Labor Office, Pollution Control Dept., Electrical Inspector, Fire Dept. etc.
    • Promote and track internal communication & create a positive culture at the site. Facilitate communication between employees and departments. Help resolve disputes, disagreements & complaints at the site. Responsible to effectively deal with uncertainty and associated Risks and Opportunities in relation to Sandvik’ s Triple bottom line “Social, Environmental and Financial”
  • Responsible for the preparation of the Enterprise Risk Management report to assess, monitor and control financial and other risks.
  • Consistently demand compliance with applicable regulations and work instructions and actively lead by example. Act as primary liaison with legal counsel on legal issues, e.g. governing instruments, licensing, etc.
  • Continually improve safety performance by addressing both physical safety issues & employee attitudes to safety.
  • Responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with the Sandvik Code of Conduct and legal standards.
  • Ensure that the leaders act in accordance with the Sandvik Leadership Model.

Your Profile

  • 10+ years senior management experience in any manufacturing, production, engineering or maintenance environment.
  • Must have a degree in a technical subject such as Mechanical / Production / Chemical / Powder Metallurgy
  • Understanding about laws and regulations under Factories Act.
  • Good Leadership ability, People development capability, Proactive approach, Collaborative, Strategic thinking ability, Team player, Managing and handling multiple tasks, Conflict management ability, Fair and balanced decision making.
  • Operational understanding: cost control and operational excellence.
