Auto Electrician BEV (National only)

The role is responsible for carrying out the low voltage electrical duties (automotive), maintenance, repairs, and fault diagnosis work on Sandvik mobile equipment whilst maintaining availability and minimizing costs and ensuring site and company safety and environment guidelines are adhered to.

Responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical aspects of Battery Electric and Diesel equipment and components according to defined specifications at a contract work site.

Key responsibilities:

• Comply with Safe Work standards, procedures and instructions and monitor fellow personnel on their follow up and implementations.

• Perform electrical maintenance as per maintenance plans to a standard that maintains the integrity of the equipment and does not compromise safe operation.

• Perform planned and breakdown repairs to ensure that heavy mobile equipment availability supports production requirements.

• Perform repair and fault finding using hydraulic and electronic schematics.

• Provide relevant feedback to enable maintenance planning improvements in terms of efficiency and equipment integrity.

• Keep technical personnel advised of any relevant information.

• Follows scopes of work within time constraints to meet equipment costs, utilization, and availability targets.

• Inspects equipment for proper performance and determines faults and malfunctions.

• Adjust equipment & repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scopes of work.

• Tests repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.

• Completes accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.

• Stays current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.

• Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and /

or near misses.

• Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.

• Maintains orderly workshop and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.

• Ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Values and current Company Policies and Procedures.

• Undertakes self-training and development as required.

• Performs other relevant duties as assigned by Lead Hand or Supervisor.

Your profile:

• Trade qualification in an electrical/ mechanical discipline with experience in underground mining/ heavy earth moving equipment.

• Knowledge and experience with Sandvik products are an advantage.

• Able to communicate in English.

• Able to work underground.

• Able to work as part of an integrated, broad team and instruct other members.

• Strong customer relations skills.

• Have time management and organizational skills.

• Computer literacy.

• Able to work at roster schedule (14/14) at mine site.
