Technical Solutions Provider

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunneling and quarrying. The focus lies on bringing value to customers through high-performing products that increase productivity and safety as well as to provide services and flexible maintenance programs that extend uptime and cut costs.

The Role

Provide technical support to Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and customers as required by the mining and construction customer base.

Provide technical input into inventory and stocking decisions to improve and maintain high quality of inventory and meet all customer demands proactively.

Key responsibilities

  • Updates the stock availability system with changing stock needs based on anticipation of future stock ordering trends.
  • Implements a more proactive system of monitoring and anticipating machinery parts demand to accommodate changes in the industry.
  • Acts as a central coordination point and takes initiative to forecast part stock requirements.
  • Initiates new ROPs to ensure optimal inventory levels at all times.
  • Drafts critical parts list for specific customers as directed by salesperson (based on machinery in use by the customer). This enables customers to make provision for machinery parts required.
  • Reports on Strategic Stock Availability
  • Provides data from unit down database to sales areas and product lines/category managers about product and part failures by customer or area (failure follow up).
  • Records stock levels continuously to avoid unnecessary redundant stock.
  • Maintains the machine population list regularly to ensure accurate billing at all times.
  • On receipt of updates and/or machinery (bulletins), communicates these updates to customers continuously.
  • Proactively addresses part supersessions by flagging all parts that have been highlighted systematically.

Your Profile:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Trade qualification e.g. Earth Moving Equipment Mechanic qualification
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Safety legislation
  • Ability to communicate technical expertise e.g. safety implications
  • Experience as an artisan with customer interaction in the field (not only workshop) on a variety of Sandvik machines preferably with some experience in sales
  • Experience with customer service and knowledge of customer processes and inventory planning
  • Preferably knowledge of mining logistics, and sourcing product knowledge and 3 year machine experience in the field
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PP etc.)
  • English proficiency
  • Valid code 08 driver's license.
