Our Group Risk Management team actively supports the business to achieve its strategic objectives by providing expertise and guidance within Risk Management. Evaluating risks and balancing them against potential rewards requires accuracy and strong integrity across the business. We administer policies and guidelines and we engage with our organization to support risk-based decision making through our Enterprise Risk Management framework. And this team ensures that processes are in place to mitigate the effects, should a risk arise, through business continuity and crisis management plans. In parallel, the team proactively arranges for tailored and cost-efficient non-life insurance solutions on behalf of Sandvik Group to ensure that relevant risks are transferred to the market and to meet various stakeholder and customer expectations.

In this role, you would report to the VP Group Risk Management. The location is flexible within the US. Ideally, the selected candidate will be located near to one of our locations in the Eastern USA or be willing to work according to the Eastern Time Zone to ensure a practical alignment working with our head office in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Role

In this position, you will contribute to the development of the organization’s overall risk management strategy and ensure that risk exposures are accurately identified and managed.

  • Responsible for our local US insurances where you manage ongoing relationships with insurance providers to minimize insurance costs and ensure satisfactory standards of service. Plus making sure they are compliant and cover all required aspects of our business.
  • Support the management of our global insurances in USA and Canada.
  • Lead administration of claims management, issuance of insurance certificates and advice on contract management to meet customer requirements.
  • Responsible for selected underwriting data collection and support of site risk audits.
  • Support our ambitious Mergers & Acquisitions agenda by assessing insurable risks at target companies and ensure proper integration post-closing,
  • Investigate different ways of successfully negotiating efficient insurance solutions by leading annual negotiations for our US insurances with external insurance partners.
  • Communicate with the businesses, the terms and conditions of the insurances and leveraging loss prevention services offered by the insurance partners.
  • Maintain good relations with our business areas and divisions is key, so is collaborating with Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity Management.

Your Profile

  • A driving interest in risk management and visionary thinking.
  • 4-year university degree in a relevant field of study, such as business administration, engineering or law, or the equivalent knowledge gained from working.
  • You possess an understanding of business models, procedures and performance measures and how they relate back to risks.
  • Experience within risk management, EHS, insurance, engineering, auditing or finance.
  • Group Risk Management is a small team of internal experts and the use of insurance brokers to support the business is limited. You must be prepared to take on administrative tasks and support your colleagues in a seamless way when needed.
  • Serving in a truly global environment calls for excellent communication skills in English.
  • A second language such as Spanish or French is a plus, but is not mandatory.
  • You have an excellent ability to organize your tasks and prioritize between your areas of responsibility.
  • You are a skilled negotiator and are comfortable working in a decentralized setting.
  • You have an ability to build and maintain strong relationships and networks
  • You can easily adapt your communication to make yourself understood by our business around your areas of expertise.
  • You have a natural interest to stay updated in your areas of expertise to act on possible changes,
  • You are a skilled analyst. Still, you also consider matters from a high-level strategic perspective and easily identify detailed goals and tasks
