About the role:
Buffalo Tungsten, recently acquired by the Sandvik group, is seeking an Accounting Professional to support our powder production business. The Accounting Professional will provide efficient handling of the general accounting activities, as well ensuring compliance with IFRS, local legislation and Sandvik group processes & regulations in the general accounting area. This position will support the local finance team as well as the Powder Solutions Business and Financial Controlling team in Austria. In addition to the finance and accounting responsibility, the Accounting Professional will also be responsible for general back-office administration and operational duties which support the daily operations of our business.
This role will be based at our site in Buffalo (Depew), New York with the opportunity for the role to be hybrid.
Responsibilities:
- Performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and capital expenditure schedules.
- Support month end close process including reporting and ensuring accounting is in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Support monthly performance review process, risk management, and follow up of selected key performance indicators (KPI).
- Support regular budgeting, planning, forecasting processes according to Sandvik group procedures.
- Support cost center controlling and asset management.
- Processes invoices, reimbursement requests, transfers of funding for internal partners and non-payroll payments to individuals, vendors, suppliers, and other entities as required.
- Conducts a thorough review of transactions across all payment types (ACH, wire transfers, checks, and cards) ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepares various aging and business metrics reports to review invoices and payment status.
- Support ad-hoc Finance/Accounting related projects/initiatives.
- General office administration such as ordering of office supplies, greeting visitors, data entry into corporate HR systems & supporting associates with basic questions related to payroll and benefits.
- Other related work as needed.
Your background and profile:

We’re looking for someone with a background from a similar role in finance, preferably with experience within a larger listed company in a global matrix environment.
- Minimum of 3 year’s accounting experience in a similar position. Qualified Chartered Accountant (CPA preferred).
- Good knowledge of local accounting legislations and practices.
- Possess an excellent understanding of financial processes, reporting and accounting.
- Proficient in use of Windows/Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft applications.
- Experience with ERP Systems (Sage and/or SAP preferred).
- Analytical, meticulous, self-motivated, resourceful, reliable.
- You have a passion for digitalization and use of new technologies and techniques.
