We are looking for a dynamic and results-orientated General Accountant to join our team!
Key performance areas
The General Accounting Department is a shared service provider for 11 different Sandvik company codes or divisions. The General Accountant will support all divisions by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our general ledger, bank accounts and tax filings. The General Accounting department strives for continual improvement by means of internal controls, follow up, risk evaluation, and identification of opportunities to improve processes.
Summary: Supports the objectives of the department including its control environment, timely and accurate close, cost center budgeting, and actual to budget variance analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs month-end financial close cycle for multiple ledgers and meets strict month end close and reporting deadlines.
Maintains sufficient documentation to ensure all transactions are recorded and supported in the general ledger and appropriate sub ledgers.
Prepare journal entries as needed, including prepaid amortization, IFRS lease entries, calculating depreciation, deferred revenue, allowance for bad debts and intercompany transactions.
Prepares monthly account reconciliations.
Manages the fixed asset subledger and processes inventory, rentals and fixed asset transactions.
Resolves complex accounting issues, identifying and implementing improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
Assists with internal and external audits.
Participates in the creation and implementation of internal controls.
Communicates with a range of related parties to ensure that intercompany balances are posted accurately and on a timely basis.
Prepares/analyzes balance sheet and P&L reporting package monthly and reports to Sr. Management on variances and unexpected results.
Works on ad-hoc projects and reports as requested.
Conducts general ledger maintenance.
Responsible for assisting with tax filings for multiple states.
Responsible for resolving overdue bills and collecting payments from customers.
Control owner and reviewer for Internal Controls

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3 plus years of experience as a senior accountant with a manufacturing company. A demonstrated competence in MS Dynamics NAV, and a strong ability to use MS Excel to solve problems. Public accounting experience would be a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting guidance, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers, external auditors, or fellow financial professionals in an appropriate manner.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply logical and mathematical concepts to financial and operational matters
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of financial and accounting information.
