The role

We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Manager to lead our Collections (Accounts Receivable) Team. As a key member of our Finance team, you will be responsible for driving the performance of our Collections function, with On-Time collections and pro-active customer engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of constructive customer engagement, leading high performing teams as well as supporting a disciplined AR function observing relevant policies and procedures and contemporary collections management requirements.

You will need to demonstrate a high degree of collaboration with Sales functions, and have a high level of confidence in trouble-shooting issues, as well as providing timely and accurate Receivables performance information as well as process improvement.

This is a full-time position with flexible working options, including condensed working weeks, working from home, flexible start/finish times - for the right candidate, and respecting core reporting periods.

Areas of responsibility

  • Responsible for observing and where required, improving Sandvik’s Accounts Receivable policies, procedures and processes.
  • Active surveillance of Customer accounts including actions to address (avoid) overdue accounts.
  • Articulate, promote and accountability for overseeing the Sandvik's credit policy.
  • Oversee contemporary AR measures including regular Customer ‘screening’ (PEP’s etc), credit checks and on-boarding, as well as assessing credit applications in accordance with the company's risk management strategy.
  • Generate AR aging reports and other financial reports to monitor AR performance and track KPIs including DSO’s and % Overdue, and lead the processes to support the provisioning of Doubtful Debts and booking of any Bad Debts.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, annual and as-required ‘collections’ forecasts.
  • Accountability for PPSA Registrations in both Australia & New Zealand, and other measures for our PNG based Accounts.
  • Oversee compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding credit management and collections, including Data Privacy Laws in the jurisdictions the business operates in or is subject to.
  • Actively lead and support the AR Team in understanding and observing company policies and procedures, as well as creating a highly engaged, diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Develop professional and constructive relationships with Customers while acting promptly and effectively in non/late-payment situations.
  • Negotiate alternate payment arrangements with customers when necessary, and within escalation and approval requirements.
  • Initiate and manage Collections recovery processes when necessary.
  • Support Account Receivable Officers with professional development and career progression within the framework of Sandvik’s Learning & Development model.

Your profile

You will have 5+ years’ experience in a senior Accounts Receivable role and demonstrate excellent leadership characteristics. You will have intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel including the ability to use pivot tables and lookups, Word, PPT and contemporary ERP’s and P2P platforms eg Ariba. Proven experience as an Accounts Manager (incl as an ‘Acting’), Senior Accountant or similar and a Tertiary level achievement in a related Finance or Business qualification. Experience in industries similar to Sandvik’s Mining and Construction focus, is preferable.
