Order Management Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Order Management Specialist to join our team!

Key Performance Areas

The Order Management Specialist oversees the entire lifecycle of make-to-order (MTO) special cutting tools in Mebane Production. The Order Management Specialist will analyze complex designs for manufacturability and work with the team to ensure the most cost-effective methods are utilized and quality targets are achieved while maintaining compliance with production standards. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively between customers, design, production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure the timely and accurate fulfillment of custom tool orders while ensuring production schedules are met.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Generate cost estimates and quotations for new & repeat custom orders.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are reliable, cost effective and support the organization’s business objectives.
  • Drive and contribute to improvements to increase productivity, quality and cost of equipment, processes, work and best practice.
  • Review new orders & product designs/drawings in support of production groups.
  • Work within the team to aid in balancing the workload, to help meet customer demands & prioritizing proper workload to ensure highest possible machine utilization.
  • Help identify orders in coordination with subcontractors to aid in balancing the workload to meet customer demands and to ensure cost effective & time bound results.
  • Support production in all aspects to ensure timely flow of product, follow up, identify, communicate and address any production or delivery related issues in a timely manner.
  • Review designs, fixtures, and/or routings for potential problems and give feedback to key stake holders.
  • Proactively communicate with other departments & functions to improve manufacturing process.
  • Develop complex manufacturing processes to ensure quality products which meet customer specifications.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

  • Ability to identify issues and develop solutions proactively.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
  • Good understanding of production machines and knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially for special tools, and familiarity with industry-specific requirements
  • Ability to create work instructions, presentations, and other documentation using MS Office software.
  • Ability to effectively present information to peers and management.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with SAP/PLM and NX systems will be considered a plus.
  • Must have legal right to work in the USA.

Profile and Education

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years in order management, supply chain, or production coordination, preferably in a custom manufacturing environment is preferred.
    Bachelors' Degree (B.A.) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field is required.

  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in USA

  • Domestic/Global travel may be required.
