Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. To our Rock Tools division and to our Plant Engineering department at Pune plant, we are now looking for a Shift Engineer – Mechanical Maintenance to join us.

Job Purpose:

To manage shift mechanical maintenance activities at plant.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are:

  • Ensure safety, employees health and support all the EHS initiatives along with other managers & maintain communication. Drive EHS culture in the organization.
  • Attend breakdowns with shortest lead time and resolve the problems with speed & precision. Attend day to day mechanical breakdowns for CNC machines, Mazak, OKUMA & DMG / conventional machines, induction heating equipment’s, chiller-HVAC units, furnaces, blasting units and mechanical equipment’s without taking external support.
  • Interact & follow-up with external vendors for AMC, other services, and spares.
  • Close maintenance requests into maintenance database (SAP- PM Module) on daily basis & keep record of break down, service and miscellaneous jobs, put-up and close notification in SAP system & write daily report in maintenance logbook. Prepare schedule and execute preventive maintenance of equipment’s as per schedule in SAP.
  • Analyze all major machine mechanical breakdowns using route cause analysis tools.
  • Plan critical spares required to ensure the reliability and uptime of machines.
  • Meet department KPI's in own area of work which are set at the beginning of every year.
  • Prepare SOP/SWP/WI for activities in mechanical maintenance of machine tools.
  • Develop peers / contractual employees on technical aspects.
  • Involve & support to develop vendor base for indigenizing the spares.
  • Support in controlling R&M expenses.

Your profile:

Our candidate should be a diploma mechatronics with mechanical as specialization. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in machine tools maintenance preferably from engineering / automotive industry. Good exposure to CNC machine tools, servo controls, furnaces maintenance with strong maintenance techniques and problem-solving capabilities.

Hands on experience in SAP PM module (Plant Maintenance) & SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) module will be an advantage. Worked with a strong EHS cultured organization and understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.

Other required competencies that we find necessary are:

  • Strong technical knowledge of CNC machines in terms of gear trains, hydraulics, auto tool control, auto pallet controls, and pneumatics.
  • Sound knowledge in reading machine drawings, hydraulic, pneumatic & electrical circuits.
  • Good knowledge on SAP PM module (Plant Maintenance) & SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) module
  • Should have best logical thinking abilities.
  • Good stakeholders’ management.
  • Good maintenance techniques, problem solving techniques.
  • Should be flexible to work in all three shifts.
  • Should have good written and oral English communicational skills.
  • Well versed with MS Office and database management.
