Sandvik CE Alloys is seeking a Business Development Professional to join our team. You will work with our customers and help them identify the ideal products and solutions to meet their needs while supporting their productivity and sustainability goals.

You’ll be at the forefront of technology trends and evolving market conditions driven by customer needs, as you proactively forecast and identify opportunities. You are successful in effectively transforming strategy into operational performance and growth. You establish profitable relationships with our customers and partners, and you ensure synergies and great collaboration across our organization. You will report to the Sandvik CE Alloys Group Manager and you will work closely with a global team of professionals across our Sandvik CE Alloys division, utilizing digital tools to enhance collaboration together as ambassadors for our business and our core values

Location:

Location for this role is US / Flexible. It is highly preferred that candidates be based within 1 hour of an international airport. This role is field based with a minimum of 50% domestic travel required. Some international travel is required one -two times per year, as well.

Your Profile

You have demonstrated an effective background within business development, B2B Sales or a technical engineering role with a flair for sales. Your experience and knowledge is preferably anchored by a relevant university degree, Engineering, Science, Materials or a related course of study. You are curious and tenacious, working closely with customers to solve their challenges. You possess a technical affinity to effectively sell our offering. You can keenly identify opportunities to develop our business within your region.

To be a great fit for this position, you have a commercial mindset, independent in approach and are genuinely skilled in developing durable customer relations. You are engaged in customers challenges and able to collaborate in developing sustainable customer solutions. A background in the metals industry and working with cutting edge technology and advanced materials would be highly advantageous.

Main Responsibilities:

Customer Focused:

  • Plan, direct and drive performance of sales. Execute sales action plans to ensure delivery of results. Ensuring regular reporting and periodic refining of sales strategies.
  • Accountable to attain Sales Region’s budgeted sales value, volume and/or other financial KPIs and goals.
  • Conduct sales calls and visits to potential and current customers.
  • Develop new customer accounts and Coordinate Contract Review activities and negotiations in liaison with PU Manager and Inside sales functions.
  • Develop and implement Sales Area campaigns, local sales region strategy, competitive action plan in line with CE-Alloys Sales Strategy to achieve Divisions goals and objectives.
  • Keep abreast of customer needs and concerns regarding price, delivery and product offerings to best serve the customer and obtain the most business for the CE-Alloys PU and its Entities.
  • Remain actively involved with our customers throughout enquiry, quotation, order and delivery process.
  • Secure and leverage needed technical support available within our matrix organization to support the proper use of technical solutions at customers.
  • Represent Sandvik at Regional & Global conferences, trade exhibitions, industry gatherings etc in line with CE-Alloys sales strategy
  • Proactively drive and continuously improve customer satisfaction within region including surveys and assist in complaint analysis / resolution.

Operational Management activities:

  • Provide management with accurate and timely market information for customers, distributors and competitors.
  • Liaise and support PU Manager, Finance functions, leadership and key stakeholders with accurate forecasts, budgets and targets for business control reporting.
  • Assist and collaborate with Inside sales and Finance functions in proactive management of debtors and following up timely payment of invoices.
  • Drive Performance management and execute sales action plans to ensure delivery of results.
  • Apply Sandvik Core Values and Code of Conduct in all business and personal dealings, drive team to adopt and apply the Safety-first culture, Business Ethics, IT Usage and Competition Law guidelines, at all times.
  • Adhere to Sandvik IT and Trade compliance guidelines, ensuring adequate data quality security, back up and other controls are established.
  • Capability in Performance Management and Accountability for delivering planned results.
  • Fluency in English – Written and Spoken. An additional local language from the region (e.g. Spanish) is a plus but not required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum, 4-yr. degree in engineering or a related course of study or equivalent in professional work experience is required for this role.
  • At least 3 years of sales experience in General engineering, Engineering materials or other engineering fields

OR

  • At least three years of technical engineering materials experience and outstanding communication skills are required.
  • Familiarity with US defense industry work and regulatory issues related to EAR and ITAR is a plus.
  • Experience successfully cultivating external and internal customer relationships
  • Proven track record in delivering good business results.
  • Successful experience from negotiations of commercial terms and conditions with industrial customers is an advantage.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
  • Must be able to work successfully under pressure and handle multiple issues and competing priorities.
  • Experience with project management tools and methods
  • Solid proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Must be eligible to legally work in the US.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.

Annualized base salary range is $95,000 - $125,000, depending upon level of skills and experience. This role is eligible for variable incentive as well as a 401k retirement program with employer match and employer contribution.
