Sandvik Business Area Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading global high-tech supplier of equipment, tools and service solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
SMR IT is SMR Business Area’s central IT organization responsible for providing sustainable and secure IT solutions and services.
Operational Excellence is a team with global responsibility to support teams across SMR with effective and fit for purpose operating model, IT process management and operational support. The team also provides project management capabilities to SMR and SMR IT organizations to ensure impactful outcomes and lasting business change.

In this role, you will take ownership of delivering projects that enhance operational efficiency, enable business growth, and support the seamless integration of new acquisitions. Your assignments may include implementing advanced logistics systems, optimizing customer engagement platforms, or deploying integrated engineering solutions across our global organization. By collaborating with colleagues from SMR IT and business functions worldwide, you will play a key role in driving innovation and delivering measurable outcomes.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Tampere, Finland, with hybrid work options. (Note: Fully remote arrangements are not supported.)
Your role
As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-value digitalization projects. From early scoping and stakeholder alignment to execution, global deployment, and success evaluation, you will manage the full project lifecycle with a strong focus on delivering results. You will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and deliver measurable value to the organization. Depending on projects, sometimes this requires international travel.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing projects collaboratively, ensuring alignment with stakeholders.
- Managing risks and resolving issues to maintain progress.
- Leading diverse teams with clear communication and focus.
- Applying agile or hybrid methodologies tailored to project needs.
- Managing budgets and resources effectively to maximize value.
This position reports to Head of Operational Excellence, SMR IT.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in a relevant field (advanced degrees preferred).
- 5–10 years of project management experience in IT or business development, with a proven record of delivering results.
- Strong understanding of how digital solutions accelerate business operations and enhance efficiency.
- Professional proficiency in English to effectively engage with global peers and stakeholders.
- Firsthand experience from driving deployments of new platforms with a global organization.
- Familiarity with SAFe or similar agile frameworks, and experience in hybrid project management.
- Exposure to domains or technologies such as SAP S/4 HANA, operational technology, M&A activities, system integrations or similar can be an advantage.
