Head of Global Automation Product Line

Business Unit Automation is the home of AutoMine® - the world-leading solution for autonomous mining - and Newtrax – the world leader in collision avoidance and operations management solutions for underground mining – and Universal Field Robots UFR, a fast-growing Australia-based provider of autonomous interoperable solutions for the surface mining and underground mining markets. Our hubs are located in Tampere (Finland), Montreal (Canada) and Brisbane (Australia) where we focus on developing fully automated and robotic mining technologies for mobile machinery, and safety solutions up to collision avoidance system (CAS) Level 9 solutions and operations management. Our overriding aim is to make mining safer and more sustainable for the future.

We work closely together with our Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions sales areas to serve our customers across the globe, striving for the highest level of service and support. We are now looking for a product and delivery focused Head of Global Automation Product Line. This is a global role, reporting to the Director, Global Automation Product Line and R&D, Digital Mining Technologies division, business area Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions. This position is based in Tampere, Finland or Montreal, Canada.

Your mission

As Head of Global Automation Product Line, you lead the Business Unit Automation product line management team, which encompasses the portfolios for AutoMine® and Newtrax. You are responsible for ensuring that the offering of AutoMine® and Newtrax delivers the highest level of customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for product portfolio ownership, strategic planning and continuous management to meet business objectives, support in integration activities with UFR and keep products competitive in the markets.

You will be responsible for ensuring that our AutoMine and Newtrax products meet financial expectations, aligned with wider Business Unit strategy and growth plans. In this role you will be responsible for sponsoring of new product development with R&D as well as actively supporting sales opportunities. You are expected to monitor competition and industry trends. Active participation in customer visits and demos at our hubs is expected, as well as maintaining up to date product offering presentations for internal and external forums.

Your Character

You are a strong and energetic leader with several years of experience in product management and similar roles and matching education. We are looking for a result-driven, hands-on mentality, and a creative and passionate approach on developing and delivering high technology products and solutions in an industrial environment. This role requires effective international networking and fully fluent (native level) communication, presentation and negotiation skills in English.

You can establish strong professional relationships directly with relevant stakeholders and communicate with them at all levels and have strong relationships with Sandvik customers. You understand wider business needs and find innovative solutions to complex problems. You can work proactively and systematically in a fast-changing business environment with a strong focus to succeed. You have willingness to travel domestically and internationally over 50% of the time.
