Role description
As an Automation Technician at Sandvik, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our automated production systems (surface/underground) as well as OptiMine. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automation equipment to optimize production processes and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Automation systems (AutoMine and Newtrax ) with the support of manuals
- Troubleshoot and diagnose automation system issues to identify and resolve root causes.
- Perform preventive maintenance on automation equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to improve production efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Stay updated on the latest automation technologies and industry best practices.
- Performing work associated with diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of all types of heavy machinery and special equipment and components, like Hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Report to the Automation Supervisor/foreman on all planned and unplanned work regarding the automation system.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Engineering in any of the following Automation, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Telecommunication and/or Electrical Electronics.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial automation
- High level computer skills
- Availability to travel or relocate, ability to work in various environments such as underground and open cast.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI software will be an added advantage.
- Experience in underground mining will be an added advantage.
